Sergi Karo: Sculpture That Comes to Life Through Form and Texture
About the Artist Sergi Karo (Sergii Karpenko) is a designer, sculptor, and master of artificial concrete carving. Originally from Mariupol, Ukraine, Sergi received his education at the Kyiv Academy of Design and Arts. Since 2022, he has been based in Bellevue, Washington, where he continues to explore the intersection of architecture, sculpture, and landscape design. In 2025, he completed the HarvardX "Architectural Imagination" course, an academic program certified by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
The Art of Faux Bois One of Karpenko’s signature techniques is Faux Bois — French for "false wood." Using materials like concrete, cement, and metal frameworks, he handcrafts textures that mimic natural wood in stunning detail. Inspired by the organic modernism of Antoni Gaudí and Alexander Archipenko, his work transforms cold materials into flowing, life-like forms that bring harmony to any space.
Sculpture for Interiors and Outdoor Spaces Sergi creates both decorative and functional objects that serve as visual anchors for their environment. His approach goes beyond decoration; it is about redefining how people experience a space through emotional and imaginative expression.
What He Creates:
-
Sculptural Furniture: Bespoke benches and tables with deep character.
-
Architectural Accents: Custom decorative elements for interior focal points.
-
Landscape Art: Transforming gardens and patios into expressive art scenes.
Craftsmanship and Vision Every project begins with a concept sketch and the construction of a custom metal framework. Each texture is meticulously shaped by hand, ensuring a perfect balance between artistic aesthetics and functional durability. Sergi Karo’s creations are more than objects — they are stories told through form, inviting reflection and interaction.
